Mallory - an adorable but shy Doxie-Poo needs a quiet home with a single loving female owner and a fenced yard. PLEASE READ HER INFORMATION CAREFULLY BEFORE RESPONDING TO ADOPT. Mallory needs a very specific type of home. Thank you(: Mallory is and absolutely adorable 11 pound 3 year old spayed female red Doxie-Poo. The momma poodle was apparently red. She is very vibrant and energetic in her comfort zone / foster home but is very fearful with strangers and is not good in a family situation. She loves other dogs and cats. Mallory appears to prefer women over men although she has been fine with some men. She would do better with another dog her size (10-12 pounds) to play with as she loves to play. She is an enchanting little girl. We also need her to go to a home with a fenced yard and who will be patient and understanding with her as she will take time to adjust to her new environment. She is quite the happy spitfire in her foster home. A very happy girl. She will however be tentative and shy with new people, dogs and places. She needs a calm, quiet, consistent environment. The perfect home might be with a single woman who has another playful little dog. We think a home with too much bustle and larger dogs might be too much for her although she is not fearful of larger dogs, she simply will not play with them. She is so outgoing and happy, playing with all the dogs her size in her foster home. Several families have met Mallory and some have tried her in their homes. While totally a ham and outgoing in her foster home, she is very shy with strangers. We have determined the perfect home, if such a home exists, for Mallory is one with another playful, friendly dog or dogs her size with a fenced yard to run and play as she is not a dog to walk when shy. She also needs a owner who will understand that it will take time for her to become comfortable with them and open up. If you expect a happy, outgoing puppy when you meet her, this is not Mallory. She will stay close to her foster mom who assures you that at her home, this is not the same dog. She runs, plays, smiles, tussles with other dogs. If such a special home is not found, Mallory will stay with her foster mom. Mallory does not show well with strangers. She is not herself at all. It will likely take 1-2 weeks in her new home to acclimate. Mallory being shy by nature due to poor socialization early on, would actually benefit from having another dog buddy in her home vs. the only pet. Many wonderful homes without other pets have applied and we truly believe that she needs other little dog(s). Mallory also loves to run and play. Due to her shy nature she is not the best leash walking dog so those without fenced yards who walk may be disappointed. It would be preferable for her to have a fenced yard to run, play and relieve herself. With time and experience, she will do better on the leash / with strangers we have no doubt but again, this will take time. We so appreciate all who are kind and show interest in Mallory. We are trying to limit the trauma both to her and others who show interest. There is a lid for every pot and a home for every dog. We are hopeful for this sweet girl. IN AN IDEAL WORLD, WE WOULD LOVE FOR HER TO HAVE A PLAYMATE(S) AND HAVE A FENCED YARD IN WHICH TO RUN AND PLAY. SHE REALLY DOES LOVE OTHER DOGS. SHE IS INITIALLY TENTATIVE OF STRANGERS SO PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO A QUIETER HOME. WE WILL NOT CONSIDER OUT OF STATE ADOPTERS FOR MALLORY DUE TO HER SENSITIVE NATURE. WE WILL ONLY ADOPT TO AN OWNER WHO IS ABLE TO CARE FOR ANY ARISING MEDICAL AND SURGICAL NEEDS FOR MALLORY AND WHO WILL ATTEND TO ROUTINE PREVENTIVE CARE (HEARTWORM AND FLEA PREVENTION, HIGH QUALITY DIET, ZYRTEC FOR HER MILD ALLERGIES). Mallory is heartworm negative, dewormed, vaccinated and is spayed. She appears to be non-shedding or low-shedding. She is a very smart girl - crate trained and house-broken with a doggie door in her foster home. We have an adoption application that we can forward to prospective new homes that provides information that is helpful in our screening process.
